If you thought golf in Ireland was all about championship-standard links layouts then guess again. There are plenty of interesting inland courses that are more than worth trying out, of which Mountbellew is a fine example.
Located in Co. Galway, just a mile from the town with which it shares its name, Mountbellew is a cheerful nine-hole woodland course which dates back almost 80 years.
Whilst not particularly long, it is certainly a good test for players of all standards and each of its holes has its own unique character.
Keep your eyes peeled for the challenging sixth hole, a dog-leg right which features a tight fairway and well-guarded green. Nothing other than accurate ball-striking from tee to green will suffice here.
