Founded in 1919, the course is only half-a-mile to the south west of the town. It is an undulating inland course built on a gravel base and is one of the driest to be found in all of Ireland.
At 4,326 yards, it is not a long course, however accuracy is called for at all times, especially at two of the par three holes. The opening hole is long and testing and generally the course has tight fairways and small greens.
The town of Kilrea lies on the River Bann and is approximately 15 miles inland from the port of Coleraine, on the north coast of Northern Ireland.
