There are loads of top-class golf courses in Ireland which are hardly known outside the shores of the Emerald Isle. The Island Golf Club, a championship links established in 1890 near the lovely town of Malahide, is certainly one of them. It sits on fast-running links land surrounded by high dunes. It was a course where you used to be faced with a number of blind shots but not anymore. In the late 1980s the club took the advice of Eddie Hackett and Fred Hawtree and made some changes which drastically reduced the number of blind shots you're likely to be faced with. The Island is a stunning place to play a round of golf and the club offers first-class facilties and, of course, a warm Irish welcome in the clubhouse.
