Ryder Cup star Padraig Harrington likes this course, which is situated in the woodlands of the Clooncastle Tower Estate. "The par-3s here are a delight and this must be the finest course in the west of Ireland," says Harrington, who certainly knows a good golf course when he sees one. At the fifth hole, the green is set into the river, while, at the tenth, you need to be spot on with your club selection to find a green which sits in the shadow of a medieval tower house. The course was established in 1895 and designer Eddie Hackett has come up with a gem. As you'd expect, the facilities off the course match the layout itself and it is certainly worth finding out if you agree with Padraig Harrington's glowing assessment of the place.
