Newtownstewart lies at the foot of Bessy Bell Mountain, in the rolling parkland of Baronscourt, ancestral estate of the Duke of Abercorn. Although only an hour and a half from Belfast, this is a different world. Mature beech trees and wildlife such as pheasants, red squirrels and buzzards, together with views of the surrounding Sperrins, make just being on the course a pleasure.
The club has held various pro am tournaments, regularly hosts GUI qualifying events, and is therefore a demanding test off the back boxes. However, it is also a popular society venue, welcoming groups and individual visitors alike, the emphasis being on friendliness rather than formality.
