Founded in 1884, this relatively level parkland course is set in the valley of the Vale of Avoca with wooded slopes on all sides. The Avoca and Aughrim rivers meander their way through many holes requiring you to be on your guard at all times. The tree-clad mountains with their bountiful forests provide a quite spectacular backdrop for a round of golf. Even the locals consider it a privilege to play here.
There are carefully appointed trees to contend with, especially from the tees, and strategically positioned bunkers that put a premium on accuracy as opposed to length.
