Founded in 1896, Naas started life as a nine-hole course at Halverstown but was extended to 18 holes in 1922 when the course moved to Monread. A totally new course was designed by a Mr. Travers and put into play in 1947. If all that wasn't enough, the course is now currently under construction and plans are for a new nine holes featuring lakes.
Of the current course, trees are a constant feature and to avoid them means some straight driving and accurate approach shots to many of the greens. The current 16th, a par four just over 400-yards, is the best hole on the course. It is a cracking dogleg that has been extended by 25 yards and also features a newly built sand-based green.
