THE READERS OF Condé Nast Traveler have voted Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort among the top five hotels on the Emerald Isle. The resort placed fifth in the Top Hotels in Ireland: Readers' Choice Awards 2018 category with a score of 96.58. It was the only golf hotel among the top five. Waterford Castle's 18-hole, par 72 course was designed by two-time European Ryder Cup player Des Smyth and is unique in Ireland in that it is located on a 310-acre private island. Surrounded by the River Suir, the course is accessed by complimentary car ferry and enjoys idyllic seclusion located minutes from Waterford city centre. The course is among the finest parkland layouts in the country, with all of the holes boasting a number of scenic and strategically challenging features.
