A Grant of €758,000 towards golf from Sport Ireland for 2018 has been welcomed by the CEOs of the Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) and Irish Ladies Golf Union (ILGU).
As part of the announcement, funding was confirmed for the World Amateur Team Championships that take place in August and September at Carton House, Maynooth, which the GUI and ILGU are jointly staging.
Speaking after the announcement, Pat Finn, CEO of the GUI, said: "The support from Sport Ireland for our high performance golfers, the development of the game at grassroots level and our staging of the World Amateur Team Championships this year is very welcome."
Sinead Heraty, CEO of the ILGU, added: "With the ongoing support of Sport Ireland and Sport NI, we can continue to produce world-class golfers who will represent Ireland at the highest level of the game." T
The funding breakdown for golf in 2018 is: Confederation of Golf in Ireland (Core Grant): €233,000; Women in Sport: €15,000; High Performance (GUI and ILGU): €410,000; World Amateur Team Champs: €100,000.
